Diary, i.e. what really happened...

Sunday 24th September, bad news 

Today the whole trip was put in jeopardy when ZPOWER attempted vehicular intercourse with a large deer (six pointer).  Photos will follow, lets just say the front is a mess.

Monday 25th September, body shop blues

Took ZPOWER to a few body shops to get estimates *scary stuff*.  I am now bored of the deer jokes. 

Called the insurance only to be told that the car isn't on the policy due to a system problem but hopefully they'll fix it and someone will come and assess the damage.

Friday 29th September, can I get the parts?

Contacted Coz from UltimateZ in Chicago to see if I can get a fancy new nose for ZPOWER in time for the body shop appointment.  I have to say thanks to Coz as he's put in a lot of effort but unfortunately the turn around time is too short.  But thanks again to Coz for all the help.

Monday 9th October, Z POWER goes to hospital

Dropped her at the body shop today.  All being well she'll be recovered by Friday 13th *fingers crossed*.  Then I just need to fix a few boost/vacuum problems and we'll be ready to roll.

Friday 13th October

Well, I guess I was too optimistic, the car isn't ready and might be ready for Monday, unfortunately I'll be in Boston so can't pick it up 'til Wednesday.  That will give me Wednesday, Thursday and the weekend to find the boost problem and correct it, fortunately the pit crew (Turtle) will be available to help with the tricky bits.  The replacement silicone hoses arrived today so at least I've got some parts :)  Also bought a digital camera today so that we can update this page with pictures as we go along.

Wednesday 18th October

Hooray!!!  ZPOWER is back and sporting a fancy new center panel.  II have to say the body shop did an outstanding job on the car, a big thanks to Bob's Auto Body of Church Street in Greenwich.  Just need to fix a few more bits and we're ready to go.  Click the pic to make it big :)

Sunday 22nd October

Chris and Turtle spend the day under the car swearing and cursing.  However a quick test drive to Boston and Philadelphia next week will make sure everything is working top notch for the trip.
