Day 6, 2nd November 2000.

Not a very interesting day to report today, we left Dallas late in the Morning and following a different route than planned went through Oklahoma to Amarillo Texas.  In Oklahoma we saw our first chain gang, the sign read 'Inmate Work Crew Ahead'.  The scenery was basically red all the way through, the rocks, the soil, the crops and the 5 300ZXs we saw were all red.  Hence today was pronounced red day.  We debated calling this 'where's the octane day' as premium fuel in Oklahoma was 91 Octane and in Amarillo was 90 Octane, given that ZPOWER only runs on 92 and is used to 93 or 94 octane in the North East we had to buy a large supply of +7 octane booster to keep the car happy.

For lunch we stopped in Oklahoma at an 'Irish Inn', which despite sounding quaint is a chain of motels in Oklahoma and arrived in Amarillo, TX (the middle of nowhere) by late afternoon.  We slept for a bit in preparation for the evening entertainment which took place at the imaginatively named "Brew Pub".  We were staggered to find that the beers were of an excellent quality and would recommend the Nut Brown Ale and the Porter to anyone else brave enough to venture into this unchartered territory.

Our limousine service for the day was 'God Bless Taxi' and both drivers (too and from the pub) were astonished to find people from outside Amarillo in Amarillo.  We think they thought we were completely mad or lost... they probably weren't too far from the truth.
