Day 5, 1st November 2000.

Pinch, punch first of the month no returns for a year.  We started the day with some coffee and then spent an hour or so updating the pages due to the large volume of complaints received to date about our tardiness in this regard.

This was a day off for the pilot as Bev did all the driving and took us on a tour of Dallas and it's neighbouring city Fort Worth.  Dallas and Fort Worth are two contrasting cities.  The weather today was bad "il pleut comme la vache qui pisse" (actually more like comme le bison).  We started by heading toward downtown Dallas and tried to get into the aquarium, on our third circuit of the building we finally found the cunningly concealed entrance.  I think Jef needs to help them on the marketing side by putting a bloody sign up.

We stopped for lunch at a Mexican restaurant called Cadillac's which had "plenty of character" which we added to by immortalising our roadtrip on the front door with a permenant marker pen.

For the afternoon we went on a quest for some cowboy boots for Jef, the obvious choice was Fort Worth's Stock Yard District.  As you can see from the pictures it's a little different to Dallas.  All the boots and other 'cowboy' attire were extremely expensive so we didn't buy anything but did stop in a 'charming' little bar called the white elephant.  We were informed by the barmaid that later in the afternoon there would be the daily cattle drive through town so we decided to stay long enough to watch the cowboys direct the cattle through city, a very interesting experience indeed.

The evening was quiet and we popped into the local Flying Saucer Pub (a la Memphis) for a couple of beers before retiring to bed.

Some Cows, well bulls then.
