The morning seemed to come all too quickly after the night before. However, we did have a lot of driving to do, so very sore-headedly we left for Wilmington. This time we forgot about the Interstates and went along the coastal route hoping to stop in Myrtle Beach. The first stretch of the road was wonderful, going through really small towns in the plantation rich areas of South Carolina, however speeds were slow.
We got to Myrtle Beach which was shut! The entire bloody
town/city/whatever was like a ghost town/city/whatever!
Hundreds
and Hundreds of empty hotels lined the roads. However, we were there and
therefore decided we should at least look at the Atlantic, so here's the photos.
We followed the coast road then pretty much all the way to Wilmington. Wilmington was a beautiful place, again lots of big ol' wooden houses. Although it was pretty late by the time we got there and therefore didn't get time for photos. However, we did find another gem of a microbrewery where the beer was so good we took some back with us! Wilmington is a place I'd love to go back and explore properly.
