Well, we got up today, and felt much, much better! I think we needed a day off somehow. The drive was fairly short, across the rest of the Panhandle of Florida and up through Georgia to Savannah.
The scenery was woodland, woodland and woodland. I guess Florida is more woody than I'd originally thought. So, no photos of the journey. However, the weather was pretty good, well it is Florida, so I guess that's to be expected.
We arrived in Savannah fairly early, about lunchtime which gave us time to see the city after we were told that we were too early to check in to the motel.
Savannah is famed for its beautiful old houses
and town squares as well as being the setting for the famed "Midnight in
the Garden of Good and Evil" which however I haven't read/seen! But I
pointed out the various houses to Chris who seemed to 'ppreciate it.
The other thing Savannah is famous for is being the setting in Forrest Gump
where he's waiting for the bus and relaying the whole story. With the
numerous squares and benches it was impossible to guess which one it could have
been.
To make up for the lack of photographs yesterday, this page will be split into Part 1 and Part 2, that will save your browser from having a breakdown on the number of pictures.
