Today started off slowly. Most of the relatives were going or had gone. Carl, Darrell, Chris and myself remained. So, for a bit of education, we went to the Science Museum. We had a lot of fun, played with lots of gadgets and things. Then went back to the house.
Darrell, the perfect host, decided to find us some brewpubs. In all I think we went to 5 or 6. In each one we shared a sampler of the brews, like professionals. The beers ranged from quite nasty to wonderful. All notes were taken and will form part of the long awaited wheretodrink.com website.
The best of the bunch by far was a place called Bandersnatch
in
downtown Tempe. The beers and atmosphere were great. In particular
the IPA and the Barley Wine. The name of the place came from C.S. Lewis I
believe. After sampling all the brews in all the bars we headed off for
something to eat. We were recommended a place called the Bamboo Club
in
Scottsdale where we met the most enthusiastic man in the world - our waiter
Matt. We know it was Matt because he told us about 14 times, he spoke at a
rate of about 150 words per minute and although difficult to follow at times,
was a really great bloke. The picture shows a rare shot of Matt standing
still! We think his name was Matt though.
